On Thursday, August 17, 2023, youth ages 13+ participated in outdoor activities and indoor games at the English and Wabigoon Rivers Remediation Project Youth Camp 4.0.

The day began at the Conference Centre, where youth were provided with breakfast, followed by a language learning session with elders. Other indoor activities included an Ojibway language/animal species matching game, and a life-size board game used to represent the process of biomagnification. After lunch, camp activities moved out to the Pow Wow grounds, where youth took part in an environmental site assessment simulation, and tested environmental sampling tools off the docks of Dinorwic Lake. Camp ended with a pizza party for the 17 youth in attendance. The day camp was coordinated by Wade Wetelainen, and facilitated by Cheryl Dixon, Jane Hilder, Ainsleigh Loria, and Dan Leitch from SMM and KGS Group.

Special thanks to Bill Parenteau, John Harrison, and Tyson Gardner for helping to guide the day.
