YOUTH HOUSING INTERN


FT/PT Position: Five (5) Month Term Position

Location: Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation Reports To: Housing/Public Works Manager

Salary: $22.00 Hourly

Closing Date: June 15, 2026


Summary:

The Housing Intern will receive work experience and relevant training in the housing sector. Under the direction of the Housing/Public Works Manager the housing intern will support the department and perform such tasks as: providing administrative support, operational support, conducting inspections, housing construction or maintenance, tenant relations, and or/ housing construction/renovations.


Duties:

•Assist with coordinating of repairs, general maintenance, and renovations of Band-owned homes as required.

•Maintain and order supplies for Housing Department as required or requested.

•Assist with the in-home assessment process which includes scheduling and record keeping.

•Assist in supervising any staff conducting repairs, maintenance, and/or renovations of Band-owned homes.

•Building and maintaining relationships with relevant housing partners and contractors.

•Responding to, and manage crisis and/or emergency situations related to Housing.

•Complete walk-through audits of community and residential buildings.

•Learn about the housing funding opportunities, housing budgets, and maintenance costs.

•Attend housing committee meetings.

•Accurately maintain and complete all necessary paperwork, records, and documents, etc.

•Any other duties as assigned or required.


Qualifications:

•A Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation Band member is an asset.

•Prior experience or interest in the Housing Sector is an asset.

•Must be a youth between the ages of 16 and 29.

•Ability to take direction.

•Must have good attendance, punctuality, reliability, dependability, and strong work ethic.

•Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.

•Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

•Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

•Must possess a valid G Class driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.

•Must be willing to submit to workplace drug testing.
