Summary: The Brighter Futures Worker is to provide services that will help deliver education and services to families and support and manage health programs to improve knowledge and increase awareness in the areas of mental health, child development, parenting, and healthy families. The Brighter Futures program will assist with the health and social development of children, assisting parents with the skills to effectively contribute to the health and development of children, and will support community development to develop the needs of children, youth, and families.Â

Duties:
Increase awareness in mental health, child development, healthy babies, and injury prevention.
Improve knowledge and skills of front-line workers in community members in areas of mental health, child development, healthy babies, injury prevention, and parenting skills.
Provide opportunities to improve health services and develop community-based model projects.
Address serious health concerns affecting children and families in a community-based, holistic, and integrated manner and support optimal health and social development of infants, toddlers, and pre-school age children.
Improve the health of children by facilitating the prevention and early intervention of health problems and by promoting better integration of health services.
Assist parents and professionals with information on the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively contribute to the improved health and development of children.
Support community development and provide opportunity of the community to find their own solutions to the health and develop needs of children, youth, family, and community.
Identify gaps in services to identify the needed service improvements or creation within the community.
Develop work plans and submittal of reports.
Attend staff meetings as required or requested.
Attend any required pre-employment training and ongoing training as requested.
Other relevant job duties as assigned by the Health Director.

Qualifications:
Must possess a secondary (Grade 12) diploma / G.E.D. or equivalent.
Possession of a post-secondary diploma in Child Education an asset.
Proficiency with computer programs, such as Microsoft Office.
Must be able to work cooperatively in a team setting.
Ability to meet strict deadlines and perform under pressure.
Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Must be self-motivated, reliable, and able to work with minimal supervision.
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must possess knowledge of the Anishinaabe culture, traditions, language, and way of life.
Must possess exceptional interpersonal skills and have the ability to maintain working relationships with staff, community members, youth, families, and external parties.
Must be willing and able to adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines and code of ethics.
Must be willing to submit to workplace drug testing.
